Once

The expert was once a beginner
starting out humble and small.
The saint, once a condemned sinner
equivalent to the angels that fall.
The flower was once but a seed
that began deep under ground.
The oceans are born as streams
winding their steady way down.

The animal was once a mere cell
growing safely inside a womb.
The whisper transforms into a yell
which reaches an ear very soon.
The object is firstly scattered
as bits and bobs, then into a pile.
And nonsense became what mattered
when the adult grew up from the child.
